In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene swept across the mountains of Western North Carolina, unleashing historic rainfall, catastrophic flooding, and landslides that altered entire landscapes overnight. Rushing rivers carved through valleys, washing away roads, bridges, and generations of family homesteads. While the initial floodwaters receded, the long and challenging journey of rebuilding remains. In communities tucked high into the Blue Ridge, where neighbors were cut off from basic access, the need for hands-on, persistent relief work is as urgent today as it was in the days following the storm.
At the Disaster Relief Team North Carolina (DARTNC.org), our mission is driven by volunteers who show up ready to clear debris, rebuild walls, and restore safety to families who lost everything.
